Regina v Turing and Murray

As part of Re-dock, I recently worked on the project ‘Regina v Turing and Murray’ which was an immersive, participatory play, set in the actual courtroom in Knutsford where Alan Turing was sentenced. The work explored the external pressures and the internal thoughts of the people in the courtroom though performance and technology.

The work exists in two main parts. Three theatrical performances of the trial and three VR films of the trial allowing visitors to experience the viewpoints of the principals.

I worked with two writers, Steven Downs and Jay Bernard to create three short 360 films reimagining some of the thoughts Alan Turing, Arnold Murray and Judge Fraser during the trial. The finished films were showcased on set in the Courtroom outside of the performance times, part of Heritage Open days 2017.

I wrote a short article about the development of the work which you can see here.
